The central fulcrum which the museum's display revolves around is the land, understood both as an economic resource and as a metaphor for memory, roots and identities.
The Latera Museum of the Earth, inaugurated in 2001, was born from the musealization of the collection consisting of around 1 500 objects created by Luigi Poscia.
The collection includes working tools used in artisan trades and also in agriculture, livestock farming, housekeeping and the management of domestic and daily activities. It is therefore distinguished by the fact that it documents not only, as is often the case, a specific aspect of life in past decades, but the entire traditional local reality in its most obvious as well as its most hidden aspects.
The exhibition tells the story of the community's relationship with its land through the scenic display of objects and immersion in festivals, games, songs and historical memories rendered in multivision.
The Museum of the Earth aims to be a living place of knowledge and preservation by promoting temporary exhibitions, cultural events and educational workshops for all ages. The exhibition route opens up the territory through a vegetable garden and historical-naturalistic itineraries.
